Getting started
Understand MissionXP and choose a useful first step.
What is MissionXP and who is it for?
MissionXP is a free job-search workspace built by re:WORK TRAINING, a nonprofit. It helps you choose target roles, explain your value, build professional relationships, and track your progress. You can use it across career fields, whether or not you have taken part in a re:WORK program.
Is MissionXP really free?
MissionXP is free for jobseekers, with no credit card required. Your job pipeline, relationship tracking, career tools, and optional Go-to-Market Academy course are included. Nonprofit and partner support help sustain the platform.
Do I need to be part of re:WORK TRAINING to use MissionXP?
No. You can use MissionXP without enrolling in a re:WORK TRAINING program. The self-guided Go-to-Market Academy course inside MissionXP is a free, optional resource. re:WORK’s guided career-training program has a separate application and enrollment process.
How do I get started?
Create your account and complete your profile, then choose a useful first step: prepare a LinkedIn headline and About section, explore your transferable skills, or add a person to your contacts. You can also explore the workspace first. As you start using MissionXP, your dashboard shifts from getting-started guidance to daily next steps.
Create your free accountIs MissionXP a job board or an auto-apply tool?
MissionXP helps you put a strategy behind your job search and build the relationships that support it. A job board and AI-assisted preparation tools are part of the workspace. You choose your target roles, review what you create, lead your conversations, and submit applications yourself. MissionXP does not auto-apply for you.
Why do I need a LinkedIn profile?
Your LinkedIn profile helps us check that you are a real person and connect your professional identity with your MissionXP account. LinkedIn is required for jobseeker signup; your phone number is optional. Preparing a LinkedIn draft in MissionXP does not publish anything to LinkedIn.
For jobseekers
Turn your job search into a plan you can act on.
How does the job tracking work?
Save a role in Research while you learn about the company, then move it through Applied, Phone Screen, Interviews, and Offer as things progress. Keep your notes, contacts, and next steps with the opportunity. You can save roles from the Job Board or add an opportunity without a posting URL. On a phone, the pipeline opens as a list; a board view is also available.
What are Champions and how do they help me?
Champions are experienced professionals who contribute feedback, perspective, encouragement, and connections. In your contact pipeline, a Champion is someone who has agreed to advocate for your work. A helpful conversation can be the beginning of that relationship; it does not automatically mean someone has agreed to be your advocate.
How do I add a Champion to my network?
Add the person to Contacts using their LinkedIn profile URL. Record the relationship stage that reflects what has actually happened, and choose Champion when they have agreed to advocate for your work. The LinkedIn URL helps MissionXP connect recorded support to a registered volunteer’s profile.
What is Community achievements, and is there a leaderboard?
Community achievements helps you recognize progress and connect with fellow jobseekers. Personal milestones and peer connections come first. You can choose to show leaderboard rankings and points if you find them useful. Activity counts are signals of participation; they are not a measure of your worth or a guarantee of a job offer.
How do badges work?
Badges recognize recorded milestones such as adding an opportunity, developing a Champion relationship, or reaching an interview. Use them to reflect on your progress. Review your community-sharing settings in Profile to decide how you participate in the community.
Can I see jobs from partner companies?
The Job Board brings together available opportunities, including partner postings. Filter the listings, research the roles that interest you, and use Save to my pipeline to start planning in Research. Check the original posting for current requirements and availability.
What is social capital, and how do I measure it?
Social capital is the advice, knowledge, introductions, and support you can access through relationships. In MissionXP, record your outreach, conversations, follow-through, and people willing to advocate for you. Those records help you see how relationships develop. Your notes provide the context; counts alone do not measure trust.
For Champions
Share your experience and see the contribution you make.
How do I become a Champion volunteer?
Choose the volunteer path and complete your Champion profile, including your LinkedIn URL, experience, and areas where you can help. Explore opportunities that fit your skills and availability. Jobseekers use your LinkedIn URL when recording support, helping connect those interactions with your impact profile.
Explore becoming a ChampionHow much time does volunteering require?
Choose a commitment that fits your availability. Champion onboarding offers 4+, 8+, or 16+ hours per quarter. The time and format of individual activities vary. Creating an account does not automatically assign you to a session.
What can I do as a Champion?
You can offer résumé or LinkedIn feedback, help someone practice for an interview, share experience from your field, support skills training, or make a thoughtful introduction. Choose opportunities that fit your experience and availability; you are not promising a job or referral.
How do I track my volunteer impact?
Your Impact brings together recorded support activity, contributed hours, and people who have named you a Champion. Your Growth helps you reflect on your contribution and achievements. The records show participation and reported outcomes; they do not capture every part of a relationship.
How can volunteering support my own growth?
Coaching, teaching, and supporting jobseekers give you opportunities to practice communication, feedback, and leadership. Use your recorded contributions and your own reflections to explain what you have learned in a résumé, LinkedIn profile, or development conversation. Your experience and outcomes depend on how you participate.

You review and personalize the output. The free Go-to-Market Academy course is an optional way to build your job-search strategy.
How do I use the contact management features?
Save the people you know or want to meet, record conversations, and update the stage of each relationship. Add a next step and follow-up date so the dashboard can surface it when it is due. Mark the follow-up done when you complete it. Recording a contact or reminder does not send a message.
What are the different job pipeline stages?
Use Research for opportunities you are exploring, Applied after you submit an application, then Phone Screen, First Interview, Second Interview, Final Interview, and Offer as appropriate. Accepted and Rejected keep completed opportunities organized. Offer details such as salary and start date can be added when you know them.

Yes. Open MissionXP in your phone’s browser to use your workspace. The job pipeline offers a phone-friendly list view, with stage controls that let you update an opportunity without dragging a card.
Is the Go-to-Market Academy required?
No. The self-guided course inside MissionXP is free and optional for jobseekers. Learn how to explain your value, research roles, and build relationships. Begin with the Kickoff Series; later sections unlock as you complete lessons and apply your strategy. You can use the job-search tools without taking the course.
Will my résumé draft be saved?
Resume Builder saves your current named draft, including your entries, generated résumé, and chosen layout. Check the saving or saved message before leaving. If a save fails, keep the page open and use the retry option. Your saved draft is restored when you return.
